About me…

My name’s Jon, and I’m the founder of Harmony Works.

It all started in Oxford. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. DJing, producing, collecting records, helping run events. Over time I found myself pulled toward something quieter, more focused. Piano tuning offered that. It’s hands on, precise, and there’s real satisfaction in bringing an instrument back to life. Every note sitting right, nothing clashing, nothing out of place. It’s a job that rewards patience and a good ear.

I got my start at Roberts Pianos, working with a skilled team of tuners and technicians. It was proper old school. Pianos coming in for restoration, customers from all over, tools scattered across the workshop. That’s where I learned the ropes: how a piano works under the hood, what goes into keeping one in shape, and how to tune them properly. I spent four years there, tuning hundreds of instruments. Uprights, grands, family heirlooms, rehearsal room workhorses. The lot.

In 2021 I started Harmony Works to offer a straightforward, high-quality tuning service across Oxfordshire. No upselling, no drama. Just honest work and consistent results. I built a solid base of regular clients. Schools, music venues, private homes, a few local piano teachers. Every job mattered, and I took pride in building a business people could rely on.

These days I run things remotely. I’m still fully involved, but the day-to-day tuning is handled by Dan, a professional tuner with years of experience and someone I trust completely. In fact, he’s been tuning longer than I have. He takes on client jobs across Oxfordshire, keeps standards high, and brings the same care and attention to detail that Harmony Works has always stood for.
